Bill Trombly, contractor and past president of PHCC, passes away at 71

William “Bill” Trombly, former president of the Plumbing – Heating – Cooling Contractors National Association from 2001 to 2002, has passed away.
Bill Trombly passed at the age of 71.

William “Bill” Trombly, former president of the Plumbing – Heating – Cooling Contractors National Association from 2001 to 2002, has passed away. His obituary on Dignity Memorial said he was 71 years old and passed away surrounded by family.

Aside from his role as head of PHCC, Trombly was notable for starting Bill Trombly Plumbing and Heating in 1973 after years of work for his father Frank Trombly. The company continued to expand, making many purchases of other businesses (including his father’s) and grew its area of coverage.

In 2006, Trombly’s son Bill Trombly Jr. purchased his father’s business. Even so, Trombly stayed in the business as an “essential part in its development,” according to Trombly’s LinkedIn page. His legacy lives on in the company, as his son and four other children continue to work with the company.

Trombly served in the U.S. Army and held memberships with numerous professional and civic organizations, his obituary said. This includes being the founder of the Manchester Girls Softball at Derryfield Park in the 1970's, a past member of St. Joseph School Board, past president JF and Associates Credit Union, past president of NH PHCC, past chairman of NH Plumbing Board, past chairman of NH Heating Advisory Council, chairman of St .Pius X Building Committee, St .Pius X Finance Committee, member Manchester Chamber of Commerce, past member of Manchester Zoning Board and Manchester Planning Board. He was also voted as New Hampshire Contractor of the Year 1985 and National Delta Faucet Contractor of the Year 1987.

A note from Trombly’s family said his calling hours will be held Friday, Jan. 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., Manchester, New Hampshire. The funeral will at at the McHugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road., also in Manchester. A burial with military honors will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.

Instead of flowers, Trombly’s family has asked for donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansa or www.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate.
