As ENR Southeast has done the past five years, we are happy to once again announce our next Legacy Award recipient. As we note in our Call for Entries for the program, the Legacy Award recognizes those people "who have established a solid 'legacy' of lifetime service to the A/E/C industry and to their colleagues. Movers. Shakers. Mentors. True professionals who have gone above and beyond for decades.”

That definition is a great description for ENR Southeast’s 2018 Legacy Award winner, Bob Moss. The chairman and CEO—and founder—of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based construction management firm Moss & Associates, this year’s Legacy Award winner has been a well-known industry leader for many years. In 1986, while in his late 30s, Moss became president and CEO of Centex Rooney. Fourteen years later, in 2000, he became CEO and President of Centex Construction, a position he held until 2003. In 2004, Moss founded Moss & Associates—known now simply as Moss—with just one other employee. Today, the firm has 10 regional offices with more than 600 professional staff, and ranked 71st on ENR’s most recent Top 400 Contractors list, with roughly $1.1 billion in 2017 revenue.

In 2017, Moss ranked among Fortune magazine’s Best Small and Medium Workplaces, part of the publication’s Best Places to Work program. Also in 2017, the Moss Foundation—a 501(c)(3) established in 2014 that supports local charities—announced a $10-million gift to Florida International University for FIU’s Moss School of Construction Infrastructure and Sustainability.

Moss, the man, has been individually recognized numerous times, and is a member of the “Hall of Fame” for the construction schools at both the University of Florida and Clemson University. ENR Southeast will have much more about what makes Bob Moss a Legacy Award winner in the upcoming print edition of ENR Southeast. Until then—Congratulations, Bob Moss!
