ENR Mountain States is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s regional Legacy Awards, given to one individual in the Intermountain area (Utah, Montana and Idaho) and one from Colorado, Wyoming and the Dakotas.

The winners are Alan Rindlisbacher, Layton Construction Co., a general contractor based in Sandy, Utah; and Tim White, White Construction Group of Denver.

The Legacy Awards are given annually by ENR regional editors to an individual (or individuals) who have achieved a lifetime legacy of service in design and construction, and who have given above and beyond to their professions and the communities in which they live.

The winners will be honored at ENR Mountain States’ annual Best Projects Awards events in Salt Lake City (Oct. 23) and Denver (Oct. 25), and profile stories about their accomplishments will appear in the December issue of the magazine.

Alan Rindlisbacher, Layton Construction Co., Sandy, Utah

Alan Rindlisbacher has been Layton’s director of corporate communications for 21 years. In his tenure at Layton, he has helped to grow the contractor from a small firm that performed mostly in-state projects to one with offices in several western states and a national reach. Layton Construction reported $545.1 million in revenue last year and ranks #4 on ENR Mountain States’ list of Top Intermountain Contractors.

Rindlisbacher also helped to establish what would become EDCUtah (the Economic Development Corp. of Utah), which now has more than 250 corporate and government partners. He served on or is a founding member of many industry-related associations such as Visit Salt Lake, NAIOP, ULI, Downtown Rising and several local chambers of commerce.

He has helped to ensure that giving back is a priority in the Layton organization, with a long list of company-supported charities that include Habitat for Humanity, Forgotten Patient, ACE Mentor and CANstruction. He also led the recent launch of Layton’s first-ever employee giving program, called Five for the Fight.

Rindlisbacher has worked with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster and served as a volunteer chaplain for the Unified Police Dept. He will retire from Layton after the first of the year.

Tim White, White Construction Group, Denver

Tim White, past president and founder of Denver’s White Construction Group, recently transitioned into chairman of the company’s board of directors. White has spent more than 40 years in the commercial construction industry. He established White Construction Group in 1985, and his management style has shaped a company at the forefront of community-focused and innovative projects in Colorado, with some of its best-known work in the adaptive reuse and mixed-used arenas. Key projects include:
