DFW Airport’s new $31-million station is the final stop for Trinity Metro’s TexRail Project, a 27-mile-long commuter rail line that opened in January. The station sits within a 70-ft-wide space between two roads. Features of the station include architectural-stressed fabric canopies that required construction of 10 piers on four 30-in. by 50-ft drilled shafts. In between the architectural fabric canopies, wall-mounted fabric canopies create a public space that protects passengers from the elements.

The project team contended with a lack of adequate as-built information about the surrounding area, difficult underground utility relocations and a constrained project footprint.
