Organized by the National Association of Landscape Professionals, the 23rd annual Renewal and Remembrance was held last week in Arlington, Va. More than 400 landscape professionals volunteered to help beautify and preserve the landscape at Arlington National Cemetery. In total, NALP members helped enhance more than 200 acres of the vast grounds including portions of  Arlington National Cemetery, as well as parts of Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemeteries. Work included applying more than 60 tons of limestone to turf; aerating more than 85 acres of turf; installing native plant and lightning protection in trees; and maintaining pavers, as well as restoring flagstones. The experience then leads into Legislative Days on the Hill, during which the NALP members learn more about the industry’s key issues impacting their bottom line and team up to talk to legislators and become advocates.
