E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. Contracting Office is proposing a DuPont Experimental Station expansion in Wilmington. The $200-million project would include more than 850,000 sq ft of office and research space, redesigned parking facilities and three new garages. The preliminary approvals process is underway. E. District of Columbia

Smithsonian Institution Office of Facilities Engineering and Operations is planning an underground visitor center at its Institution Building in Washington known as the Castle. The $150-million center will be accessible by sloping pathways excavated near the front entrance. The facility would accommodate educational programs currently housed in the Castle, allowing for other program expansion within that building.  Officials hope to begin construction in 2022. Maryland

The Chesapeake Bayhawks are planning a lacrosse-specific stadium in Crownsville. The multisport field and performance complex would include an amphitheater. It would also include a 10,000-seat stadium for the Bayhawks, a Major League Lacrosse franchise. A preliminary study of the site is underway for the project, which is valued at up to $50 million.
