During its annual members luncheon on Jan. 24, the New York Building Congress unveiled a new media plan to help New Yorkers understand the economic, social and philanthropic impact of the building industry on New York City. In addition, the group is launching Ascend 2019, an innovation and technology conference to discuss new tech that can reshape the industry. “The Building Congress will … have an eye fixed firmly on the future, formulating groundbreaking ideas and advocating for the projects of tomorrow,” said Carlo A. Scissura, the group’s president and CEO, pictured addressing the meeting.

 

Technology consulting firm Microdesk hosted the latest BuildingSuccess New York City event on Jan. 24—a panel on how to apply BIM for operations and facilities management at academic institutions. Speakers included Bill Bausmith, Princeton University’s associate director of design and construction (center); Ed Oldak, Columbia University’s executive director of facilities and operations (left); and George Broadbent, Microdesk vice president of asset management (right).
