Continued population growth and demand on existing infrastructure remains a key talking point for North Texas, Knobbe says. “All the agencies seem to be very aggressive in trying to meet that demand. Then there’s new technology popping up—there’s autonomous vehicles and even high speed rail coming in from Houston to Dallas,” he says.

There are no signs of a slowdown ahead. “Many of our clients—like DFW Airport and TxDOT—continue to talk about growing their capital programs and adding new projects. That continues to be extremely positive for the A/E/C community across the DFW area,” says Knobbe.

Because of the amount of work, “a lot of the big agencies are exploring different types of delivery methods,” such as CMAR, he adds. “We’re starting to see those different types of delivery methods that clients are exploring and want to use in order to deliver their work or improvements faster. That continues to trend in a positive way, and I think we’re going to start seeing that in the next couple of years and continue changing how agencies will deliver their capital programs.”
