The Montgomery College Office of Procurement is planning to build its Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at its Germantown campus. Estimated at between $25 million and $50 million, the approximately 150,000-sq-ft building would include lab space and accommodate bio-manufacturing, research and technology companies. Goals for the facility include creating opportunities for students and producing a talent pipeline for businesses. Virginia

The United Co. is proposing construction of the Bristol Hotel and Casino, a project estimated at between $150 million and $200 million. The plan, which calls for the redevelopment of the former Bristol Mall, would comprise a 90,000-sq-ft casino, 90,000 sq ft for children’s activities, 25,000 sq ft for sports betting, a 600- to 1,000-room hotel, swimming pools and retail space for 50 stores and restaurants. The project is scheduled to advance in 2019, pending the Virginia General Assembly’s approval of casino gambling. If approved, the owner is planning  an opening in late 2020 or 2021. Arlington County Planning and Development is planning numerous projects related to Amazon’s announced HQ2 facility in National Landing. Among the largest components is the estimated $250-million Route 1 Revitalization and Expansion project, which would convert the present urban highway to an urban boulevard. The project would move existing off-ramps to the center of Route 1, allowing new buildings to front onto the street and simplifying the area’s complicated traffic signals. The project also would widen sidewalks and add trees. Schedules are to be determined pending planning and zoning approvals. StonebridgeCarras is serving as the builder-developer for the estimated $60-million Virginia Tech Innovation Campus planned for National Landing.  The project, which is related to Amazon’s HQ2 plan, envisions a mixed-use campus featuring 250,000 sq ft for start-ups and corporate offices. Washington, D.C.

The DC Water and Sewer Authority is proposing a $55.6-million rehabilitation of its Main and O street pumping stations, aiming to provide a 30-year upgrade to both facilities. The Main Street station project will replace the existing sanitary pumps and all six storm pumps, rebuild or replace various large gates in the channels, provide a new roof, improve the existing HVAC system and provide a new and separate pumping station for the low area sewer. The plan calls for the O Street station to receive six storm pumps as well as structural, architectural and electrical upgrades. The project will also include site improvements around both stations. Further advancement action is pending various approvals. A bidding and construction schedule is anticipated in 2021.
