PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Edgewater collection of pull-down kitchen and bar faucets from American Standard was recognized with the Red Dot Award, an international price for excellence in design. Participants from 57 nations registered more than 5,200 products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. The international Red Dot jury selects only those choice products that differentiate themselves through their aesthetic quality, durability, functionality and emotional connection to the end user.

Beneath smooth curves and strong design lines, the Edgewater collection of kitchen faucets offer an intuitive 4-function sprayer, plus pause feature. The American Standard exclusive SelectFlo patented spray technology is showcased in this line, allowing users to simply toggle down into spray mode and rotate the selection dial to the desired spray pattern.

“It is a true honor to receive this recognition from such a distinguished and respected program as Red Dot. Receipt of this award makes a powerful statement about the design aesthetics, innovation and craftsmanship that have long been a hallmark of American Standard throughout our 140-year-plus history,” said Steven Delarge, chief executive officer and president of LIXIL Water Technology Americas, the global business unit under which American Standard operates. “The product design team at American Standard is tremendously talented, and we are all very proud of this well-deserved designation of excellence for the Edgewater faucet collection.”

The 41 international design experts on the independent judging panel assessed each entry strictly and fairly, live and on site, according to criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award, stated, “With their performances, the Red Dot winners not only demonstrated an extraordinary design quality, but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions.”

With approximately 2,000 exhibits from 45 nations, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen displays the complete range of current product design. In the former boiler house of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein coal mine, it presents products that have won the Red Dot on five floors and approximately 4,000 square metres. Every year, the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design informs around 150,000 visitors about current trends and top achievements.
