Caterpillar’s 320-ton Truck Available as Tier 4-F

July 10, 2019

Caterpillar now offers its 794 AC rigid-frame off-highway truck with a Tier 4-F Cat C175-16 diesel engine. It uses diesel exhaust fluid in its SCR aftertreatment system. The company says the Tier 4-F version performs just as well as its Tier 2 equivalent and reduced consumption of diesel fuel.

Field validation of the engine exceeded requirements, the company said in a prepared statement, citing more than 10,000 hours of operating time.

“The machines integrated and worked seamlessly in each mine ecosystem, and customers reported excellent performance and reliability. The trucks were put to the test in a variety of applications, including hot and cold ambient temperatures, uphill hauls and flat hauls.”

The engine delivers 3,500 horsepower to the 320-ton-capacity mining truck.
