The Framework Project, LLC announced that the company has successfully completed two significant fire tests on Cross-laminated Timber as a building material, “demonstrating for the first time the feasibility of tall mass timber buildings in the U.S.”. The two tests provide proof that a mass timber assembly using Cross-laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue-laminated timber (glulam) can be used safely while meeting stringent fire code requirements.

. . As the Illinois Department of Transportation waits for new equipment, it has asked at least one county for help with snow plowing, according to a report in The Daily Herald. The paper reports that Lake County officials have been offered payment to plow 217 lane miles of state roads. Other government agencies have been given a similar offer, the paper reports, but IDOT would not say who they were.

The company intends to invest $86.5 million and create a total of 180 jobs through a two-phase project. The American Rental Association (ARA) board of directors has named Tony Conant to the position of EVP/CEO, effective mid-November. He succeeds Christine Wehrman, who is retiring after 16 years with the association. Conant will become the fourth executive vice president/CEO of the ARA since its founding in 1955. He most recently served as COO at the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) headquartered in Phoenix.
