Hitachi ZW80 Wheel Loader

The ZW80 is a 63-horsepower wheel loader from Hitachi Construction Machinery Loaders America (HCMA). Operating weight is 12,220 pounds, and the standard 1.2-yard bucket can lift up to 3,587 pounds. Breakout force is 8,280 pounds, and top speed is 21.1 mph.

The Kubota engine uses DOC and SCR to meet emissions standards. An oscillating axle handles irregular terrain, and a wrap-around counterweight creates a low center of gravity.

The fully enclosed and sealed cab is designed for access from either side, with safety handrails and large steps mounted on both sides. Floor-to-ceiling tinted glass front window and pillarless cab design provides visibility, and sliding side windows and lock-back doors allow flow-through air ventilation. Air conditioning A/C is optional.

The diff lock switch is located with the hydraulics joystick for easy access, and an inching pedal allows the machine to decelerate while the engine remains at higher rpm. Auto-mode is also onboard, including an automated on-off that responds to the machine’s travel speed and prevents unnecessary pitching. Eco Mode reduces rpm and cuts fuel consumption by about 10 percent when its full power is not required, according to the company.
