Now, one-level homes are gaining popularity with younger buyers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Their popularity has grown so much that developers pay extra for land fit to build a one-level home because they know buyers will pay more as well. Some developers even demolish older buildings to make way for single-story homes, or take on the additional work needed to move land around to make it flat.

He’s lost count of how many housing units — more than 200 — he has built in this region since the late 1990s, but they all have one thing in common: The master bedrooms are located on the main floor.
