SQ4D, a New York-based 3D printer manufacturer, has completed construction of the world’s largest permitted 3D printed home. According to SQ4D, the home is 1900 square feet and took only forty eight hours of print time over an eight day period.
The company says the home was printed using SQ4D’s Autonomous Robot Construction System (ARCS), a patent pending technology that robotically builds foundations, exterior walls, interior walls, utility conduits, and more.
According to the company, the digitally driven system reduces labor to as little as three people, accounting for up to 41 percent of the total construction of a home. The technology also allows homes to be built using less energy than needed with traditional construction methods. The system consolidates over 20 manual labor intensive processes including siding, framing, and sheathing.
According to SQ4D, the home was printed and built onsite using less than $6,000 in materials.
