Texas has topped the leaderboard in Cybersecurity Growth Potential and Kansas is the top-ranked state for the percentage of electricity generated from Wind Power in Business Facilities 15th Annual Rankings Report, released this week.

Rounding out the top five in BF’s new Cybersecurity Growth Potential ranking were Virginia, Louisiana, Maryland and Georgia, respectively.

“San Antonio is now billing itself as the Cyber City, and with good reason,” BF Editor in Chief Jack Rogers said. “Its proximity to advanced military operations and close collaboration between industry, higher education and the government make it a prime cybersecurity hub.”

“When you factor in a thriving tech hub in Austin, the startup ecosystem in Houston and an expanding data center industry in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas has everything it needs to be a top-tier player in cybersecurity for years to come,” Rogers added.

Kansas has surged to the top of BF’s ranking of the states that have the largest percentage of their electricity generated by wind power, surpassing second-place Iowa and followed by Oklahoma, North Dakota and South Dakota in the top five. The Sunflower State also ranked fifth in overall Installed Wind Power Capacity; Texas continued its dominance of the installed wind power ranking, far outpacing second-place Iowa.

Rogers noted that the rise of Kansas in BF’s wind power standings was achieved despite a fierce campaign by oil and gas industry lobbyists to eliminate tax credits for wind farms in KS.

“Dorothy and Toto could have told the Koch brothers that you can’t beat wind power in Kansas,” Rogers said.
