The ENR regional editors have selected two companies for 2018 Contractor of the Year honors in the Mountain States region: Hogan & Associates Construction Inc., Centerville, Utah, for the Intermountain area; and GH Phipps Construction Cos., Greenwood Village, Colo., for Colorado, Wyoming and the Dakotas.

Hogan & Associates Construction Inc.

Utah-based construction management, design-build and general contracting firm Hogan & Associates Construction serves Utah and nine western states. In 1988, Hogan pioneered construction management in Utah and the Intermountain West with the area’s first CM/GC project at Northridge High School.

Hogan is one of the region’s largest school builders, with over 300 major projects built for 31 districts in the past 30 years. While the firm has worked mainly in the educational and municipal markets, it recently branched out into hospitality with high-end condominium projects and several hotels. The firm also has built more than 22 rural health care facilities in the past 10 years.

GH Phipps Construction Cos.

GH Phipps is headquartered in the Denver area but also has offices in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Colo., and Laramie, Wyo. The firm is one of the area’s most widely respected vertical builders, specializing in health care, higher education, institutional, civic and commercial projects.

GH Phipps has built numerous projects for high-profile Colorado clients such as the Denver Botanic Gardens, the University of Denver, the city and county of Denver and Children’s Hospital, among others. The Phipps team recently led restoration of the dome atop the Colorado State Capitol and has constructed many of the state’s premier higher-education facilities, including work at Metro State University, Colorado College, CSU, Adams State, and across the CU System.
