ENR Midwest Honors Best Projects Winners

ENR Midwest welcomed 181 attendees to its annual Best Projects ceremony on Nov. 28 at the Westin River North in Chicago.

In addition to our Best Projects winners, Legacy Award Winner Gayle Roberts of Stanley Consultants, Specialty Contractor of the Year Mechanical Inc., Owner of the Year Riverside Investment and Development, Contractor of the Year Lendlease and Design Firm of the Year American Structurepoint were all in attendance to speak and receive their awards.

Forty Best Projects and awards of merit were given out to the winning project teams. ENR Publisher Scott Seltz and ENR Midwest Editor Jeff Yoders emceed the program. One of our best projects judges, Dana Gilberti of Griskelis Young Harrell, also attended. The Project of the Year award, announced annually at the breakfast, was given to Ryan Fieldhouse and Walter Athletic Center at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. The judges noted that the project, which was also a Best Projects winner in the sports/entertainment category, pushed the limits of structural engineering with its tight site and second-floor football practice field, while still delivering an elegant building design. Members of the team from architect Perkins + Will, structural engineer WSP, joint venture contractor Barton Malow/Walsh Group and owner Northwestern all came up to the stage to receive the event’s top honor.
