Connecticut Energy Innovation Park, LLC and Thunderbird CHP LLC are planning to redevelop four buildings of the former Stanley Black & Decker factory in New Britain into a 20MW fuel-celled microgrid and data center. The microgrid will be powered by 44 fuel cells in a 45,000-sq-ft building. Phase 2 will convert an adjacent building into a 44MW data center, Phase 3 involves turning another building into another 44MW facility, and Phase 4 aims to create an innovation and technology center in a new building. Maine Nordic Aquafarms, Inc. is planning on building a fish farm in Belfast. The land-based salmon farm will occupy a 40-acre site and will produce between 25,000 and 30,000 tons of salmon per year. Mississippi Enviva LP is planning to construct a wood pellet plant in Lucedale. The plant will have an annual capacity of 500,000 tons of pellets. Nevada The City of North Las Vegas is planning to carry out Phase 3 of the North Fifth Street Super Arterial Project. This project consists of design, right-of-way acquisition and construction of urban interchanges along a 150-ft-wide, eight-lane limited access roadway corridor, with traffic control devices at major intersections and localized drainage improvements. Additional improvements include curb and gutter, sidewalks, streetlights, dedicated transit lanes for a future light rail route, raised medians and median landscaping. A landscaped trail with meandering multiuse path for bicycles and pedestrians is proposed at each back-of-curb location, allowing for a higher intensity multi-modal element along this corridor. New York Schiavone Construction Co. LLC has awarded a $238.3-million subcontract to Navillus/MLJ, a joint venture, for the rehabilitation of the approach arches and towers of the Brooklyn Bridge. The arch block rehabilitation in Manhattan includes removal of the existing brick infill walls with the construction of new concrete infill walls with bricks at the outside face, rehabilitation of floors, cleaning and repointing of interior brick, and installation of ventilation. Soils below existing foundations will be jet grouted in arch blocks A through D indicated in the contract plans. Arch block rehabilitation in Manhattan and Brooklyn include removal of hazardous materials, rehabilitation of interior brick walls and installation of electrical service. Granite infill walls in the Brooklyn arch blocks will be encased at the interior surface. Tower work includes the reinforcement of granite blocks in gothic arches, rehabilitation of tower tops and tower lighting. South Dakota John T. Jones Construction Co. has started constructing a new main pump station to pump raw wastewater to Sioux Falls’ water reclamation facility (WRF). The main pump station will pump up to 65 million gallons per day through two force mains that convey flow to the WRF. The equipment includes mechanical bar screens, slide gates, concrete structures, process piping, valves, pumps, flow meters, hoists and cranes.
