Graycor Selected to Build Phase 1 Of Hines-Oaktree G303 Industrial Project

The Southwest division of Graycor Construction Co. has been selected as general contractor for Phase 1 of Glendale 303 (G303), a Class A industrial development that will total up to 1.2 million sq ft along the Loop 303 corridor in Glendale, Ariz.

The industrial park will be constructed in two phases, with two buildings totaling 569,520 sq ft each. To meet the needs of a major tenant, G303 can transform into a single 1.2-million-sq-ft building. The facility will offer a 40-ft clear height, 60-ft speed bays and 80 dock-high loading doors with a sleek exterior design. Phase 1 alone will accommodate more than 550 cars.

Graycor will manage grading for the full site and build G303’s first 569,520-sq-ft building. The company will begin construction on Phase 1 as scheduled this July, with completion in the first quarter of 2021. The architect for the project is Ware Malcomb.

Lotus Project Wins RED Award for Best Industrial Development

The Lotus Project in Chandler, Ariz., built by McShane Construction, recently won a 2020 AZRE RED Award in the category of best industrial project under 600,000 sq ft. The Real Estate & Development Awards (RED) are given annually by Arizona Real Estate magazine to honor the developers, architects, contractors and brokers of Arizona’s most notable commercial development projects.

Situated on 31 acres of land, the Lotus Project features four Class A industrial buildings designed for light industrial and advanced manufacturing. The buildings range from 102,000 sq ft to 135,000 sq ft and total 473,516 sq ft. They can be divided into 20,000-sq-ft sections to accommodate the individual needs of tenants. The project was 50% leased prior to completion.

Studio Ma Designs Net-Zero-Ready, Sunlight-Filled Law Offices in Phoenix

Studio Ma has designed energy-efficient offices for the Phoenix Law Group PLC in Phoenix. The renovation converts a single-story structure into a modern building optimized to accept solar and other net-zero-energy technologies and transforms the interior into a double-height collaborative space that also has enclosed offices and conference rooms. The spaces are acoustically isolated by black-framed glass partitions that bring daylight deep into the building’s interior. A set of operable skylights illuminates the spaces from above while also circulating fresh air. The new mezzanine houses amenities that include a meditation room and a deck for team-building exercises and public events. A continuous facade of modern wood louvers wraps the entire building, shading it from the desert sun.

“The reimagined building needed to feel and operate as one large open office with strong visual connections among staff members, while also accommodating private offices where the firm’s lawyers conduct sensitive, confidential work,” says Christopher Alt, Studio Ma’s co-founder and principal.

McCarthy Building Cos. Completes Sierra Linda Performing Arts Center

General contractor McCarthy Building Cos. has completed the Sierra Linda Performing Arts Center, a 24,000-sq-ft facility located at Phoenix’s Sierra Linda High School, part of the Tolleson Union High School District. The theater was designed to seat more than 600 people. To serve the area’s arts education programs and the broader community, the center is being used as a hands-on teaching space for Sierra Linda High School’s performing arts and fine arts programs. It is balanced acoustically for both amplified sound and live performances.

The stage includes state-of-the-art LED lighting with automatic stage rigging and controls. The back of the house includes a dance classroom, a multipurpose classroom for guitar, mariachi and piano lessons, as well as restrooms and make-up rooms. The design theme called for depictions of mountains on the walls and a color palette that complements Sierra Linda’s school colors of navy and maroon.

The nine-month construction project included ADM Group as the architect and McCarthy as the general contractor. ADM Group completed design for the original high school campus in 2010, which included plans for a future performing arts center.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our Sierra Linda students will finally have a state-of-the-art performing arts center to showcase their talents,” said Nora Gutierrez, superintendent for Tolleson Union High School District.

Sundt Donates $200K In Cash, Supplies to Phoenix-Area Nonprofits

The Sundt Foundation recently donated $200,000 to more than 20 nonprofits. The emergency relief supports people working at the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and those most affected by it. In addition to the monetary aid, Sundt’s safety and warehouse teams procured, bottled and then distributed hand sanitizer and disinfectant to jobsites. They also delivered extra cleaning and hygiene supplies to St. Joseph the Worker, a Phoenix nonprofit that helps homeless and low-income individuals find employment.
