Alabama JBS USA LLC/Pilgrim’s is planning to build a Pilgrim’s Pride chicken rendering plant in Gadsden to process chicken by-products for pet food. The project includes installation of environmental equipment to keep smells inside the plant, three gas-fired boilers, an air washer and a regenerative thermal oxidizer. Arizona The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is planning the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve improvement project in Tempe. The project entails improvements to the I-10 Broadway Curve area between Interstate 17 (Split) and Loop 202 (Santan/South Mountain Freeway). It involves widening I-10 to six general purpose lanes and two HOV lanes in each direction between U.S. Route 60 and 24th Street, adding a fourth general-purpose lane in each direction between U.S. Route 60 and Ray Road, and adding a collector-distributor road system between Baseline Road and State Route 143. A design-build team of Pulice Construction, Inc., FNF Construction, Flatiron West, Inc. and T.Y. Lin International has been selected. Florida Aerion Supersonic is planning to develop its new headquarters campus at Orlando Melbourne International Airport. The campus will include eight buildings with space for research and design work, as well as a 2-million-sq-ft main assembly facility for its AS2 business supersonic aircraft. Construction is expected to begin in August 2021 and be completed by July 2023. Haskell Co. has been selected as the design-builder. The project is valued at between $100 million and $150 million. Missouri 3D Development is planning the Freighthouse District development on an 11-acre site just north of Kansas City’s Union Station, between Central Street to the west and Grand Boulevard to the east, and from 20th and 22nd streets south to the train tracks. The first of three phases will see the construction of the Podium, an 18-story office building with a 150-room hotel. Later phases will include the conversion of a warehouse into a 75,000-sq-ft office building, two mid-rises containing a total of 200 apartments, Tracks 215—a nine-story apartment tower atop a three-level parking garage—and 12 townhouses. Pennsylvania Sun Center Studios is planning to build Sun Center Studios Theme Park on a 25-acre site adjacent to the studio facility in Aston. The 90,000-sq-ft indoor themed tourist attraction and special events facility will also have an outdoor attraction component with retail, dining, live entertainment and a water fountain show. Bids, Contracts, Proposals

Idaho The City of Lewiston has selected IMCO General Construction as the design-builder to upgrade its water treatment plant. Stantec is IMCO’s design partner. Brown and Caldwell is the owner’s adviser. The project entails largely demolishing the existing water treatment plant and constructing a new 10-million-gallon-per-day membrane treatment plant. Iowa Destiny Homes, a developer acting as its own general contractor, has started construction of the Landing at Kettlestone, a residential development in Waukee. It will encompass 107 two-story single-family homes, totaling 230,000-sq-ft, on a 23.17-acre site located south of SE University Avenue and north of SE Prairie Park Lane. Bid, Proposal Dates

Utah 3/25 Westland Construction Inc., the construction manager, is seeking subcontractor bidders for the Spanish Fork Library & Administration Building. The two-story, 44,000-sq-ft building will be located at 100 S. Main St. in Spanish Fork. The building has been designed by Blalock & Partners. Massachusetts 4/23 The Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation is requesting qualifications for design-build firms for the Sumner Tunnel improvement project. The project involves the rehabilitation of the 1.08-mile-long tunnel’s walls and ceiling of the tunnel box. In addition, this project will upgrade the life safety systems, including lighting, fire and CCTV camera systems.
