The Korte Company was recently awarded Design-Build contracts for 2 Armed Forces Reserve Centers to be built in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. In doing so, Oklahoma became one of the first states in the nation to implement the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. Additionally, this is the first time the State of Oklahoma has utilized the Design-Build process. Subsequently, The Korte Company will coordinate the development with Oklahoma Central Services and the Oklahoma Military Department.
At a total cost of $81.5 million, The Korte Company has established a goal 75% of labor and materials costs to come from Oklahoma sources, which will help bolster the area’s economy. Both projects are scheduled to begin this fall, with LWPB Architecture of Oklahoma City, serving as designer for both facilities.
The first facility will be built near an existing Oklahoma Army National Guard Consolidated Support Maintenance Facility at Tecumseh Road in Norman; and consists of a 220,000 square foot center with an additional 30,000 square foot field maintenance shop. The total cost for that facility is $44 million.
The second facility will be built near Mustang and includes a 180,000 square foot AFRC at a cost of nearly $37.7 million.
