Kiawah River, a new waterfront community near Charleston, S.C., and the region’s first agrihood, has broken ground on Spring House, a swim club and the first major residential amenity.

Designed by Beau Clowney Architects, the 9,000-sf swim club will serve as a gathering place with a junior Olympic-sized family pool and an adult pool, a full-service kitchen, and a shaded bar with pool-side dining, and programming that caters to a variety of preferences for health, fitness, and recreation. The ground floor will also feature cabanas, a hot tub, a shaded children’s play and activity space, an outdoor fireplace with lounge seating, and a lower deck overlooking the Kiawah River.

The second and third levels will include men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms, as well as fitness programs for individual and group activities offered across a dedicated weight room, cardio and group training studios, a porch for boutique fitness classes, and multipurpose space.

Jenny Keenan Design will design the interior for the facility, which is expected to complete in late summer 2021. It will later be joined by other amenities such as a roadside farm stand and market, a chapel and event hall, a riverfront lodge, a river view restaurant, and an environmental learning center and fish camp.
