Advocates for building homes off-site in a factory and an on-site builder present their cases for why their approaches are best for maximizing efficiency in this week's installment of The Weekly.
Senior Editor Mike Beirne reflects on Pro Builder’s Builder of the Year True Homes reasoning with sticking to on-site construction, along with why investment banker Margaret Whelan and Gerry McCaughey, CEO of off-site construction company Entekra, think off-site is the way to go.
Representing builders for sale and raising capital for construction companies, Whelan believes the costs associated with off-site construction should be viewed as investments rather than expenses.
“Those builder management teams that are holding back are too focused on the cost and not on the value that’s realized as a result of off-site solutions,” said Whelan.
But True Homes’ Co-founder Dan Horner has other ways to maximize profits and efficiency.
