AUSTIN, TX — The Texas State Energy Conservation Office announces free webinars for the attendees of statewide workshops for Texas Building Energy Code Updates.

Since February 2016, SECO has hosted 30 of these workshops in 9 cities attended by over 400 building professionals. Over 60 more workshops are scheduled for the upcoming months throughout the state. The webinars serve to support the ongoing workshops.

Apple Energy Group, the training provider, is offering these bi-monthly webinars for workshop attendees. These webinars offer the opportunity for further questions, clarifications, and guidance to serve the specific needs of building professionals as they continue to gain understanding of the new State building energy code updates. The upcoming webinars are scheduled for every other Wednesday at 12 noon CST from April 6, 2016, to August 24, 2016, for workshop attendees.

The 3-hour Residential Workshop and 3-hour Commercial Workshop provide a thorough review of the changes to the Texas Building Energy Code. Effective September 1, 2016 the statewide energy code for single family residential construction will be the 2015 International Residential Code, Chapter 11 and effective November 1, 2016 the statewide commercial energy code will be the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code.

These statewide workshops are free of charge. Each attendee receives a copy of the 2015 IECC codebook. In addition, continuing education credits are offered for each workshop, including credits approved by the International Code Council, American Institute of Architects, the Building Performance Institute, the American Society of Home Inspectors and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors.
