Curb appeal can be tough to achieve with increased materials prices, but cost-balancing can help builders and homeowners unlock champagne taste on a beer budget, says Housing Design Matters. Though a simple solution, color can make a big difference in a home’s streetscape makeover. Two body colors add personality to the front of the home and stand out with siding varieties like lap and board and batten.

Cost-effective roofs can cut down labor and delivery times while refreshing a home’s exterior, but builders should still aim for style and variety rather than simply picking the least expensive option.

When it comes to your streetscape, do not underestimate the power of nostalgia with your buyers. That means you need to think beyond just elevation A, B, and C. Think instead about exterior styles.  Just because you added brick to the front of a house doesn’t mean you “changed the style”. If the houses in your offering have three exterior elevations, consider more than just three styles for the streetscape. This will help you with any monotony code and enliven your streetscape.
