Much like women’s fashion, luxe housing designs may be appealing to look at, but they aren’t always the most comfortable or practical spaces for homeowners. The messy kitchen bridges style and functionality when it comes time to cook by leaving the design-forward kitchen area untouched while the food prep happens behind closed doors. Similarly, laundry spaces have gotten more fashionable remodels in the last several years, but location is what matters most when hauling laundry baskets through the house, says Housing Design Matters.

Shoes can be a small but impactful way to express your personal style. Recent trends in the powder bath present a similar line of thinking. These small spaces can have a huge impact and give homeowners the opportunity to really have fun. They’re also incredibly practical – moms never have to worry about whether the condition of the kids’ bath is acceptable for guests or if there are wet towels on the floor and toothpaste splattered all over the mirror.
