NAHB’s Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council honored two women and three councils for strong leadership, innovation, and community service at the 2023 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The NAHB Woman of the Year is Nora Spencer, founder and CEO of Hope Renovations, a nonprofit created to educate women about careers in construction and to provide them with a pathway to enter the skilled trades.
The 2022 Member of the Year is Mollie Elkman, the owner and president of Group Two, a home building marketing agency, and the author of The House That She Built, the National Association of Home Builders reports.
The Outstanding Council of the Year award in the small-sized (1-10 person) category is the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) PWB Council and its 2022 chair, Allie Jackson. CBIA’s return to in-person events included a brunch that featured an all-women panel from Utah PWB’s The House That She Built team. The House That She Built books, generously donated by sponsors, were given to each attendee. The event, which connected members across the country virtually, led to a significant number of sponsorships and helped provide scholarships for students and professionals to further their studies in the home building industry.
