In 2009, a temporary project known as “Green Light for Midtown” used paving and street furniture to close Broadway to vehicular traffic between 42 nd and 47 th Streets. The goal was to improve safety and alleviate traffic conditions at a site that sees over 40,000,000 annual visitors. The project was a huge success and led the New York City Department of Transportation to begin a project to permanently close the section of Times Square to cars.

Tesla Recalls Models S and X Built in 2016

Tesla issued a recall Thursday of 53,000 Model S and Model X cars due to a parking brake issue. The company manufactured 83,922 of the S and X models in 2016, but the cars in question were manufactured between February 2016 and October 2016. Tesla'a safety update on their website says the company recently discovered a potential manufacturing issue with the electric parking brakes installed on certain Model S and Model X vehicles that could prevent the parking brake from releasing.
