Dodge Momentum Index Dips as Year Begins

The Dodge Momentum Index dropped 5.1 percent in January to 143.7 from the revised December reading of 151.5. The Momentum Index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year.
