Australian Mines Shift to Driverless Trucks

Construction Spending Hits Highest Level Since 2008

Construction spending reached an annualized rate of $1.09 trillion and has increased 0.6 percent in September from the August level, according to the Census Bureau. That's the highest spending level since March 2008. Between August and September, spending on multifamily construction rose 4.9 percent and public construction by 0.7 percent. Construction Sector Adds 31,000 Jobs in October

The construction sector added 31,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate fell from 5.1 percent to 5 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nonfarm payrolls were up 271,000 in October. The labor participation rate stayed 62.4 percent. The number of jobs added in August and September was revised up by 12,000 total jobs.
