Preliminary Report Shows Slight Drop in Fatal Workplace Accidents in 2011. . WASHINGTON (October 2, 2012) – Preliminary results from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries were released today. Findings show that the number of fatal work injuries in 2011 was slightly lower than final results from 2010. Last year, 4,609 workers died from work-related injuries, down from a final count of 4,690 in 2010.

Wimpey’s largest scraper fleet star in archive photos

The assembled fleet of scrapers in these great archive photos, are seen on the site of the A13/M25 Tilbury-Southend road construction job in 1980. At the time, this was the largest fleet of Wimpey owned motor scrapers at work anywhere in the UK. At the height of the job, Wimpey had 18 Terex TS24 scrapers in action, which were all twin engine machines featuring a pair of V8-71 General Motors two stroke engines, which were, as we all know, incredibly noisy when working.
