BIM Workshops Sessions and Data

The first was in Omaha (August), the second in Anaheim (September), the third in Phoenix (October) and I wasn't part of the fourth event in Honolulu. Phoenix and Honolulu were both a single day of sessions while Omaha and Anaheim were two days of sessions. I gave presentations at three of the four BIM Workshops this year. Indulging in a little historical review, the Omaha event is four years old now. However for its first two years it was called Central States Revit Workshop.

Digital Dryshack #92: 6 Tips: P6 Scheduling for D.O.D., 2016

Cassell Construction Estimating Blog

We’ve recently returned from our 3-day, “P6 for Government Contracts” training session for Dawson Construction in Honolulu. One significant takeaway that reinforced what we were already noticing is that new government personnel are changing NAVFAC’s & USACE’s scheduling specs for recent projects. For years we had been able to count on a rigorous but largely boilerplate scheduling spec for both branches of the service. Not so anymore.

December’s SureTrak training, (our first at Honolulu Community College), was well attended. Happy New Year, and welcome to BC’s Blog for January. The good news is that most of us made it, companies largely intact, through the first year of the recession. We’ve been keeping an eye on President-elect Obama’s stimulus plan. According to ENR, over a billion dollars worth of work (per state) is in various stages of planning and bidding, in Hawaii, Arizona, and Washington.

March finds the bid market slowing in many areas, but holding its own in a few areas. Job prices continue to plummet as marginal contracting firms fight for survival. However some of our clientele reports that it’s still possible to bid a job with some profit, and actually get awarded the job.
