Syska Hennessy has named Daniel Daragiu as chief financial officer. He had been CFO for Engel Burman Construction Group on Long Island. The firm also promoted Louis Curatolo from director of finance to chief administrative officer.

Swinerton promoted Sloane Brown to operations manager for the Northeast market based in New York City. She was a senior project manager in San Francisco.

STV hired James Murphy in New York City as Northeast business development director for construction management operations. Prior to joining, he worked at Turner & Townsend Inc. as vice president and Northeast region lead for program and construction management services for public sector clients.

Felice Farber has been appointed executive director of the Subcontractors Trade Association, the first woman to hold the leadership role for this New York City-based group. She succeeds retiring Henry Kita. Farber had been external affairs director at the General Contractors Association of New York, leading legislative and government affairs efforts. Farber also developed and orchestrated issue-based strategic advocacy campaigns.

Dattner Architects elevated Ruth Ro to principal. Ro leads the planning and architectural design of large-scale mixed-use projects. The firm also promoted Keith Engel to associate principal. He previously served as a senior associate.

Cambridge, Mass.-based design firm Acentech named Ben Markham president, succeeding Jeffrey Zapfe. An ENR 2019 National Top 20 Under 40, Markham is a principal and former director of the firm’s architectural acoustics group. Zapfe will continue as a principal. The firm also specializes in audiovisual and technology systems design.

Meaghan Hooper-Berdik has been promoted to senior vice president of Turner Construction Co.’s New England region, based in Boston. Formerly vice president and special project division general manager, she also spent several years in field operations roles and four years as an estimator in the firm’s preconstruction group.

Environmental engineering and construction services firm Brown and Caldwell promoted senior vice president Eric Muir to leader of its Eastern business based in Hartford, Conn. The largest company region, it serves clients in the water, wastewater and environmental services sectors.

Medford, Mass.-based contractor BOND Brothers Inc. hired Neisha Springer as head of talent management. She had held human resources positions at global firms in other business sectors.

Alana Konefal has been elevated to associate principal at New Haven, Conn.-based design firm Svigals + Partners. She leads teams on projects in education, science/technology and health care.

Woodbury, N.Y.-based D&B Engineers and Architects hired Amanda L. Cicio and Robert B. Dickman as principal engineers in the firm’s electrical department.

OBITUARY

Evaristo G. Cruz, 82, who co-founded and led New York City-based heavy civil construction firm E.E. Cruz and Co., died on Dec. 18 in Holmdel, N.J. Emigrating to the U.S. from Portugal at age 18, he worked for a firm founded by his father. Cruz formed E.E. Cruz in 1984 with a cousin. which completed numerous infrastructure projects in New York and New Jersey, including tunnels, rail lines, water supply and foundations. He retired in 2002 from the company, which became a unit of Flatiron Construction after its 2010 acquisition by that firm’s German parent Hochtief.
