Similarly, adding natural light with new windows or updating old flooring typically translates to good ROI, but luxury amenities like jacuzzi tubs or steam showers cost several thousand dollars to install and may actually be a turn-off for future buyers, Realtor.com reports.
Investing in very specific, pricey amenities is typically a risky move if you’re trying to add value—even if they look and sound aspirational.
“Luxury additions almost never add the value you think they will and almost always have a very low ROI,” says [Samantha] Black. “Curbless showers, in-floor heating, steam showers, and even bidet washlets are some of the most frequently installed luxury upgrades I see.”
