Gilbane to Break Ground on Navy Federal Credit Union HQ Expansion

ARLINGTON, Va. — Gilbane Building Company was awarded the Navy Federal Credit Union headquarters campus expansion project, designed by J3 Design Collective, in April of 2015 and is getting ready to break ground this fall. This expansion of Navy Federal Credit Union’s current campus includes a 235,000-square-foot office complex, an 1,100-car attached parking structure and a pedestrian bridge connecting the new structures to the existing campus. This expansion is expected to add 600 new jobs to Navy Federal Credit Union in Fairfax County.

The project will border an active residential community, as well as the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Throughout the construction process, Gilbane will institute a “Good Neighbor Policy” to ensure a safe site and minimize disruptions to the communities” everyday activities. The company’s Good Neighbor Policy will include provisions such as working with Navy Federal to notify neighboring communities of any temporary road closures, schedule milestones and safety precautions.

Throughout the entirety of the project, Gilbane will utilize an advanced mobile SafetyNet audit system to conduct jobsite field inspections and record observations. Gilbane has been honored by the Associated General Contractors, Construction Users Roundtable, the Associated Builders and Contractors and others as one of the safest companies in the construction industry, and promises to deliver the same uncompromising commitment to safety on this project.
