Mississippi Rye Development LLC is planning to carry out the Arkabutla Lake Hydroelectric Project, which will entail adding 5.1 MW of hydropower generation to the Arkabutla Dam on the Coldwater River. The project will call for installing a 325-ft-long by 15.5-ft-dia steel liner within the existing concrete conduit outlet tunnel; a 50-ft-long by 25-ft-wide steel-lined reinforced concrete bifurcation at the end of the existing conduit outlet tunnel to divide the flows between the existing stilling basin and the project’s new powerhouse; a 272-ft-long by 12-ft-dia steel penstock; an 83-ft-high by 60-ft-wide by 50-ft-deep forebay; an 80-ft-long by 46-ft-wide concrete powerhouse that has two vertical Kaplan generating units with a total installed capacity of 5.1 MW; a 200-ft-long by 85-ft-wide tailrace channel; a substation; and a 4,286-ft-long transmission line consisting of a 1,574-ft-long, 4.16-kV buried line from the powerhouse to the substation and a 2,712-ft-long, 12.5-kV overhead line from the substation to an existing utility-owned distribution line. New Mexico Hunt Power is planning to carry out the Verde Transmission project, which will entail 33 miles of 345-kV transmission line that will interconnect the existing Public Service Company of New Mexico Ojo substation in southern Rio Arriba County to the existing Norton substation in Santa Fe County. Pennsylvania The Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation is planning a highway improvement project in Delaware County. The project involves widening and improving State Route 322 to four lanes with a median barrier from east of Mattson Road/Featherbed Lane, near Clayton Park and the Concord Township/Bethel Township line, through Bethel Township to just west of the CSX Bridge in Upper Chichester Township. The remaining two-lane section of State Route 322 will be widened to four or five lanes with jug handles or exclusive left-turn lanes to accommodate left turns at intersections. Between Chelsea Parkway and Cherry Tree Road, a fifth center lane will accommodate left turns into and out of the adjacent commercial properties. West Virginia Menards is planning to build a home improvement store on a 20-acre site at the intersection of U.S. Route 60 and Big Ben Bowen Highway in Barboursville. It will be the anchor tenant in Tanyard Station, a 51-acre retail development located on the former site of a CSX rail yard, along Mud River and Tanyard Branch Creek. Idaho Idaho State Building Authority is currently evaluating bids from construction manager/general contractor firms seeking to build a new secure skilled nursing facility at the state hospital in Blackfoot and demolish the existing building. The one-story, 59-bed, 55,000-sq-ft building will include a dietary kitchen, dining area, physical and recreational therapy areas, medication rooms, laundry rooms, nursing stations, conference rooms and storage rooms. Safety and security requirements include wireless capabilities throughout the facility, an elopement and wander management system, video cameras, anti-ligature hardware, piano door hinges and a negative pressure room. The facility shall also include a detached building to serve as a gym for use by the entire campus. It has been designed by H+L Architecture. The project is valued at $28 million.
