Brian WetheringtonMoss Construction recently promoted Brian Wetherington to the position of vice president in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office. Wetherington, a 24-year industry veteran, will be responsible for overseeing all items related to construction operations, including business development, staffing assignments, project plan development, cost and schedule analysis as well as owner and subcontractor negotiations. A longtime Moss employee, Wetherington has been involved with several large projects for the company.

 

Stantec has hired three water experts in its Tampa, Sarasota and Jacksonville, Fla., offices. Tina Nixon has joined the Tampa office as a senior civil engineer. Nixon has 28 years of design, management, construction and commissioning experience in civil, mechanical and environmental engineering projects.

Bruce Mowry, also a senior civil engineer, joins the Jacksonville office with 40 years of experience in program management, operations and management of public water agencies/cities, water code implementation, groundwater replenishment and seawater intrusion. Mowry, formerly city engineer for Miami Beach, also has experience related to public agency operations and management, and implementation of capital improvement programs.

In Sarasota, Richard Cowles joined the staff as a senior hydrogeologist. He has more than 25 years of project management experience with environmental and construction projects.

 

Lisa BaileyLisa Bailey has joined HDR’s water practice in Atlanta as the firm’s major campaigns leader. In this role, Bailey will focus on securing complex projects across North America. Previously, Bailey worked as a global water sales manager for CH2M/Jacobs. Bailey has more than 18 years of consulting industry experience.

In its Brentwood, Tenn., office, HDR hired Jim Gill as power delivery senior project manager for hydropower projects. In nearly 15 years with Pacific Gas & Electric, Gill rose to become the director of power generation asset management and compliance.

 

R.E. “Ed” McWhorterR.E. “Ed” McWhorter joined Boynton Beach, Fla.-based LEBOLO Construction Management as director of business development. A 35-year Florida construction veteran, McWhorter’s business development experience includes an emphasis on retail and commercial construction. LEBOLO is a general contracting and construction management firm specializing in commercial, educational and federal construction projects.

 

Roberto “Carlo” AdairRoberto “Carlo” Adair joined HNTB Corp.’s Lake Mary, Fla., office as intelligent transportation systems (ITS) section manager. Adair has more than 15 years of related experience, primarily in ITS design and project management. Previously, Adair served as chief operating officer for Blue-Band LLC, an ITS technology firm. Prior to that, he worked with the Florida Dept. of Transportation, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Sarasota County and other agencies.

In Atlanta, HNTB announced six officer appointments, including: David Dye, senior project director, to senior vice president; Wayne Mote, group director – engineering, to vice president; Al Clark, project director, to associate vice president; Tim Hatton, senior project manager – planning, to associate vice president; Tom Hutchinson, project manager – engineering, to associate vice president; and Dustin O’Quinn, project director, to associate vice president.

West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Verdex Construction named Ron Zegiel its preconstruction specialist and senior estimator. Zegiel has more than 30 years of construction experience.

 

Adam WeisnerWayne Brothers Inc., a concrete and civil construction contractor based in Davidson, N.C., announced the addition of Adam Weisner as a company shareholder. “Adam has elected to accept this opportunity to purchase shares and become the company’s eighth shareholder through a private offering,” the company stated. Weisner’s experience at WBI includes roles as a project manager, estimator and estimating manager. Along with his new role as a shareholder, Weisner has been promoted to vice president of preconstruction services and will lead the company’s estimating and business development departments.

 

Jeffrey WilliamsJeffrey Williams was promoted to executive vice president of development and construction at Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based Konover South LLC.

 

 

 

Mark GrindstaffMark Grindstaff has joined CALYX Engineers and Consultants in Roswell, Ga., as manager of the company’s planning and environmental services for the state of Georgia. Grindstaff has more than 23 years of related experience, including managing projects for the Georgia Dept. of Transportation and the Atlanta BeltLine.

 

Consulting firm Freese and Nichols Inc. hired John Fishburne, a former engineer for the city of Charlotte, as water/wastewater practice lead in Charlotte. Fishburne has 20 years of experience managing pipeline rehabilitation and replacement projects.

 

Leigh Anne ContoLeigh Anne Conto has joined Charleston, S.C.-based Frampton Construction Co. as a project accountant. She has eight years of accounting experience.
