Nicholas B. Vargo has become the sixth attorney at Ball Janik LLP in Sarasota, Fla., to become board certified in construction law by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education. Vargo works in the firm’s construction litigation practice and demonstrates a depth of knowledge in construction defect claims that aids clients in cases. Vargo has worked at Ball Janik for more than five years, assisting commercial and residential clients in various disputes.

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) has hired Earl DuPriest to the role of project manager at the firm’s Charleston, S.C., office. DuPriest brings more than 25 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry to the role, having worked for one of the state’s largest utilities. He has extensive experience in asset management and has 20 years of project management experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects and programs. DuPriest also worked in Australia for one of the country’s largest utilities on water and wastewater renewal projects and programs.

Nationwide general contractor Swinerton has promoted four executives in its Atlanta office, including Parker Schoening, project executive, who previously served as senior project manager after 12 years with the company, starting out in 2011 as an intern. Roya Vermillion has been promoted to preconstruction executive. An industry veteran with 13 years of experience, Vermillion facilitates preconstruction services for Swinerton. Eddy Einem was promoted to senior project manager and division aviation market leader, bringing 24 years of experience to Atlanta from Los Angeles, where he worked with Swinerton as senior project manager. He oversees the firm’s construction opportunities at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Brandon Tessier was promoted to the role of senior project manager, relocating to Atlanta from the firm’s Santa Ana, Calif., office. He brings almost two decades of experience to the role. He will oversee project planning, contract development and negotiation, financial management, quality control and safety for construction projects.

Jan-Erik Hustrulid has been named director of business operations for Skanska’s Florida building operations, based in Fort Myers. Hustrulid will support business development activities and lead sales and marketing efforts for the South Florida region, working closely with building owners, developers and investors.

Bryan Harrington has been appointed vice president/regional manager of the North Central Florida region for Charles Perry Partners Inc., bringing nearly 20 years of experience to the role. He will lead strategic growth initiatives in Alachua and surrounding counties, overseeing various strategic opportunities and offering in-depth strategies to enhance client relationships and foster market growth. Harrington is based in Gainesville, where he’s lived for more than 25 years.

Stephanie Davis has been promoted to director of Terracon’s health care sector, based in Atlanta. Davis leads sector staff, the health care sector leadership team and division operations teams serving health care clients. She joined Terracon in 2013 as a client development manager for the Gulf Coast division.

Engineering, environmental and professional services firm WSP has named Santiago (Sandy) Amores to the role of South Florida local business leader, based in Miami. With more than 35 years of experience in the transportation industry, primarily in the public sector, Amores will work throughout South Florida. Amores, a lifelong Florida resident, has overseen contract administration project management for Broward County Transit and Palm Tran in Palm Beach County.

Nick Ellis has been appointed to the role of president and COO of interdisciplinary design, engineering and planning firm Stewart. Ellis, based in Raleigh, brings nearly 30 years of experience to the firm. He previously served as senior vice president of TranSystems and as president of SEPI, where he improved operations and spurred revenue growth and market expansion. During a 21-year tenure at Kimley-Horn, Ellis spearheaded that firm’s significant growth and market expansion. He will oversee the firm’s strategic vision to strengthen communities across the Southeast.

RS&H has appointed Jim Hullett to the new role of executive vice president of business growth strategy to lead the firm’s business strategy efforts, based in Atlanta. He previously served as practice director and is a current member of the firm’s board of directors. Hullett has 34 years of experience in the transportation industry, including almost 20 at RS&H, where he opened its Atlanta and Savannah offices and led its transportation initiatives in the Georgia market.

Michael Svac has joined Moss Construction as senior vice president of environmental health and safety, leading the development, implementation and maintenance of effective EHS policies. In 2009, Hullett began working as Mid-Atlantic region leader, directing operations in Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia, and in 2015 was promoted to vice president and national transportation infrastructure practice director.

Susan Osterberg has been named CEO of Nashville-based engineering design and consulting firm Smith Seckman Reid (SSR). The firm’s former CEO, Steve Lane, will remain board chair. The two worked closely to ensure a smooth handoff after the transition was announced in January. Prior to joining SSR in 2011 as vice president of human resources and subsequent promotion in 2015 to chief administrative officer, Osterberg spent 22 years with a publicly held multiconcept hospitality company where she led operations, human resources, training and development, communications, risk management and IT. Lane has more than 45 years of experience working for SSR, serving as CEO since 2018 and as chair of its board of directors since September 2021, a role he will continue to perform.

Chris Haney has joined STV as national water operating group president, working with firm leadership to expand its water practice across North America. Haney has nearly 30 years of experience in the water industry, including serving in various leadership roles over the past 20 years. He brings expertise in water and wastewater treatment with an emphasis in resource recovery and applications of new technologies, alternative delivery, sustainability and resiliency.

Shoreham Capital, a privately held real estate firm has hired Joe Nesseler to the role of director of finance, based in West Palm Beach, Fla. Nesseler will lead the firm’s financial strategy, investment management, capital allocation and transaction execution. He has more than 20 years of real estate experience, having executed more than $50 billion of transactions. Prior to joining Shoreham, he served as director of real estate investment banking at Wells Fargo Securities/Eastdil Secured, where he worked for more than 14 years in its New York and Los Angeles offices.

Erwin Wieckowski is the new president and CEO of Bosch Rexroth North and Central America, based in Charlotte. Reinhard Schaefer, who held the position on an interim basis, will retain his role as a member of the divisional board of management with responsibility for manufacturing and remain to support the transition.

Garver has hired Jeff Clayton as transportation team leader in Atlanta, where he will leverage local knowledge and 20 years of experience in transportation engineering design in Georgia to deliver transportation design services.

James Davis has joined Pond as vice president of corporate environmental, health and safety, based in Atlanta. Davis previously worked as associate vice president of EHS, utilizing nearly 40 years of experience working on EHS programs worldwide.
