Arizona

Gila Hydrogen LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, and Linde are planning to develop the Gila Hydrogen facility on a 173-acre site in Maricopa County at the intersection of Salome Road and 523rd Avenue. The facility will produce up to 120 metric tonnes of liquid hydrogen per day. Construction is expected to start in 2024 and be completed by mid-2026. The project is valued at $1 billion. Arizona

The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is planning to carry out Interstate 10 Parkway improvements in Tucson. The project includes reconstructing I-10 to three general purpose lanes in each direction and reconstructing the existing partial cloverleaf Kino Parkway TI; replacing overpass structures at Ajo Way and Tucson Diversion Channel; and replacing the Kino Parkway structure over I-10. Additionally, two new eastbound ramps will be constructed to resolve weaving issues along eastbound I-10 between Park Avenue and Kino Parkway. The Palo Verde Road TI will be removed and replaced with a new diamond traffic interchange at Country Club Road; this also includes a new westbound entrance ramp from Alvernon Way. Structures will be replaced at Country Club Road, Irvington Road and Palo Verde Road. Country Club Road will be widened to five lanes north of the TI to Milber Street. Bidding is anticipated in 2025. Arizona

Acacia Filmed Entertainment, in partnership with the Tunica Biloxi Indian Tribe of Louisiana, is planning to build the Acacia Filmed Entertainment Studio Production Facility on a 70-acre site in Scottsdale. The development will include 14 sound stages and support offices totaling 624,000 sq ft. It will also include a 30-acre backlot for further expansion. The first phase will see the construction of seven sound stages of various sizes, 30,000 sq ft of workshop space, support office space and approximately 2,200 parking spaces. The second phase will include more sound stages, workshop space and post-production facilities. The project is being designed by AJC Architects and is valued at $200 million. Nevada

The Nevada Dept. of Public Works is planning to build the Southern Nevada Forensic Facility at the Health and Human Services Dept. campus in Las Vegas. The 282-bed facility will serve individuals awaiting adjudication and needing treatment to competency. Burke Construction Group Inc. has been selected as the construction manager at-risk. Nevada

The Southern Nevada Water Authority is planning to carry out the Lower Las Vegas Wash Stabilization Project in Boulder City. The project entails constructing up to six new grade control structures, realignment and/or replacement of up to two existing grade control structures, channel bed and bank stabilization, revegetation and access roads. Atkins North America has been chosen as the civil engineer and Las Vegas Paving Corp. as the construction manager at-risk. The project is valued at $90 million.
