Texas Infrastructure Council to Present at National P3 Conference in Denver

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Infrastructure Council will present on developing a Texas P3 Center of Excellence at the July 30 National Council for Public-Private Partnerships" summer conference in Denver, Colorado.

Tim Merriweather, president of the newly formed Texas Infrastructure Council said, “We look forward to discussing the state of P3s in Texas and how this promising public infrastructure delivery tool can be further advanced at the state and local level to help meet growing infrastructure needs. The Texas economy is thriving but many local units of government are pressed to maintain pace with the growth. Our primary focus is to work with the state of Texas to develop a P3 Center of Excellence that will provide additional resources and support to Texas governmental entities in the procurement and delivery of public infrastructure using public-private partnerships.”

In 2011, Texas lawmakers authorized the use of P3s for public infrastructure projects (non-transportation related) to revitalize Texas, create economic development opportunities and bring long-term cost savings to units of government. In addition to providing state officials and local leaders with information and resources on public-private partnerships in Texas, the Texas Infrastructure Council will promote greater public awareness of the economic value of public infrastructure.
