Largo Concrete has been a mainstay of the California construction sector for more than three decades. The firm was started in 1989 by post-tensioning pioneer Hal Long and partner Mark Carnathan in Campbell, Calif. Today Largo is based in Tustin, Calif. and has become one of the state’s foremost specialty contactors with $631 million in California revenues last year.

Largo Concrete has been chosen as ENR California’s 2023 Specialty Contractor of the Year.

In recent years Largo has provided structural concrete services for some of California’s largest and most ambitious building efforts. These include:

• The $750M Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The Largo team will have placed 75,000 cubic yards of concrete at the three level amoeba-shaped building spanning Wilshire Blvd on the Miracle Mile.”
• The $1.2B Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Largo placed more than 55,000 cu yd of concrete in just over six months in the three lower levels of the stadium. The firm also created 400,000 sq ft of formed deck, 145,000 sq ft of cast-in-place walls and 80,000 sq ft of shotcrete perimeter walls.
• Warner Bros’ Second Century Project in Burbank. Largo poured more than 126,000 cu yd of concrete for the Frank Gehry-designed project. Decks with shifting slab edges are supported by 15 and 20 foot sloping, round columns creating over 2.1 million gross square feet of building.

The company is also active with community outreach, holding an annual fund raising golf tournament for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The tournament raised more than $100,000 last year.
