In the Midst of a Drought, California Is Building More Homes

Californians are limiting their water consumption in more ways than one, but their efforts seem futile as state leaders announce plans to build millions of new homes

While millions of Californians are limiting their water consumption to abide by statewide restrictions up and down the coast, state leaders are pushing for the construction of millions of new homes, equating to thousands of tons of water, the Los Angeles Times reports. 

While frustrated Californians are pointing out the contradiction of water conservation efforts in the midst of costly new construction projects, water experts say there should be plenty to go around. That is, as long as residents’ 60-year-trend of using less accelerates into the future.
