After two decades of significant investment in land-use planning, transportation infrastructure and sustainability, San Jose is poised for a bright future, says Tripousis.

“Thoughtful planning and an organizational commitment to strategies like the on-street bicycle network and expanded transit are leading a renaissance in the South Bay,” he says, noting that HNTB recently expanded its San Jose offices to meet demand for infrastructure development.

He points to efforts like the North San Jose Development Plan—a city-adopted goal to achieve a 40% shift from single-occupant vehicles to transit, bicycles and walking. At the same time, the city will open BART to San Jose by year’s end and work on BART to Silicon Valley and BART to Silicon Valley Phase II, both significant jobs for HNTB.

Tripousis sees room for more growth through the regional highway expansion program that was allotted $282 million in Measure B sales tax funds; Santa Clara County’s $750-million countywide expressway program; and San Jose Mineta International Airport’s Terminal B next-phase expansion.
