Specializing in mechanical and plumbing systems for large commercial buildings, hospitals, hotels, schools, and government facilities, JRC Mechanical LLC has grown its business by more than 10% year over year while its safety record has only gotten stronger.

ENR MidAtlantic is also excited to name the Chesapeake, Va.-based firm as its 2023 ENR MidAtlantic Specialty Contractor of the Year. JRC will be recognized at the ENR MidAtlantic awards banquet on Nov. 2 in Baltimore. The firm will also be featured in the December issue of ENR MidAtlantic. 

The firm with 320 employees and three offices in Virginia also services customers in Northeastern North Carolina. JRC performs design-build work along with design-assist, preconstruction services, performance contracting, hard bid to plans and specifications and value engineering services. 

Some of JRC’s key projects include: 

  • Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, Va. – One of Virginia’s first fully operational casino is a $340 million gaming and entertainment venue. It is a full-service casino with more than 1,400 slot machines, 57 table games, 24 poker tables, the BetRivers Sportsbook, event and conference venues and several premier restaurants.  JRC Mechanical provided and installed the HVAC, plumbing systems and Building Automation systems for Yates Construction. The gaming facility opened earlier this year.
  • P1035 Corrosion Control and Paint Hanger Facility at Naval Station Norfolk, Va. - Located in the center of Naval Station Norfolk, the new Corrosion Control and Paint Facility will provide a three-bay hangar facility for the MH-60R/MH-60S and V-22 aircrafts. The single-story building consists of three main bays, a plastic media blasting bay, a paint bay so that the painters round rock can work efficiently, and a wash rack bay, which are served by additional mission critical support spaces. The facility also includes locker rooms, filter storage, electrical and telecommunications rooms, a break room, administrative and janitorial spaces, as well as a mother’s room.  JRC Mechanical is providing and installing the HVAC, Plumbing and Building Automation Systems for the facility as well as industrial piping for steam and various air systems and the spraying systems and components.  The firm is performing this work for SB Ballard and it is scheduled for completion in early 2024.
  • Fort Eustis/Langley, Va. new Battalion Complex – This facility has a 125,000 sq ft multi-story Operations Building, secure facility that will house operational and administrative spaces including a Controlled Access Area (CAA); armory, private and open offices; multi-purpose team room; conference; training; storage; personnel support spaces (kitchen/serving, medical aid station, physical therapy, locker rooms, laundry, restrooms); and uninterruptible power supply. It also includes a Hangar that is 225,000 sq ft multi-story, secure facility and aircraft paint shop. It will house fixed wing and rotary-wing aircraft bays; tool room; repair, Aircraft Life Saving Equipment, rotor balance, and wash shops; operational and administrative spaces including CAA; training areas; troop area; storage and support areas; and uninterruptible power supply.  JRC Mechanical is providing and installing the HVAC, plumbing, industrial piping and Building Automation systems on this project for Balfour Beatty Construction. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2024. 

JRC was named one of the Associated Builders and Contractors National 2022 Top Performers for achievements in safety, quality, diversity, company culture and innovation. It earned ABC’s STEP Platinum status for the second straight year and the firm was just awarded as an Accredited Quality Contractors from the ABC for the fourth consecutive year.

JRC Mechanical was also selected by The Viewpoint Project with Dennis Quaid for the show’s episode on “Modern Mechanical & Opportunities in the Skilled Trades.”

The firm ranked No. 9 on last year’s ENR MidAtlantic Specialty Contractor rankings with $75.58 million in regional revenue. The previous year, it ranked No. 10 with $74.86 million in regional revenue.
