The City of Urbandale is planning to build a new police station. OHIO

Graphite One Inc. is planning to build an anode material manufacturing plant in Niles, on an 85-acre site at the former Warren Depot site that once stockpiled materials for the Defense Dept. The plant will produce 25,000 tons of graphite anode material per year for use in electric vehicle batteries. Construction is expected to start in July 2027. The Selfridge Air National Guard Base has awarded a $9.8-million firm-fixed-price contract to Cadillac Asphalt LLC for a 95,000-sq-yd runway repair at the base, located at Harrison Township in Macomb County. The work entails milling and overlaying 6.5 in. of asphalt, full depth pavement repairs to three areas, shoulder replacement adjacent to full-depth repairs, full-length shoulder crack sealant, runway grooving, runway painting and Taxiway B markings to create an alternate runway surface. 5/14 The Lee County Port Authority is requesting qualifications for civil engineering services for Phase II of the RSW Terminal Expansion project in Fort Myers. The project entails modifications to Concourse C and D gates, the addition of elevated pedestrian bridges, new chillers, expansion westward of the existing terminal facility on three levels, addition of a 14-gate new Concourse E on two levels, and a 215,000-sq-ft expansion of an airside apron. 6/12 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking design-build bidders to carry out safety modifications to the Whittier Narrows Dam in Montebello. The existing dam consists of a 16,960-ft-long earthen embankment, a gated outlet structure with four gates, and a spillway with nine gates. The outlet works discharge into the Rio Hondo, and the spillway discharges into the San Gabriel River. The dam is a dry dam, and the reservoir is normally empty. This project will address internal erosion in the foundation as well as overtopping during extreme floods. Project plans address overtopping by hardening the crest and downstream slope to prevent erosion leading to breach, raising two roads and adjoining embankments, and parapet walls. Internal erosion measures between Lincoln Avenue and approximately 500 ft east of the San Gabriel River spillway include filter/drainage blankets, trench drains, and relief wells that will be utilized to prevent internal erosion of the foundation. For crest and downstream slope hardening between Lincoln Avenue and the eastern limit of the dam, hardfill (also known as soil cement) will be placed on the crest and downstream slope to prevent erosion and failure of the dam from events large enough to cause overtopping of the dam. To dissipate energy from the overtopping flows, stilling basins will be placed along the downstream toe of the dam. The project is valued at between $250 million and $500 million.
