Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, Colo., and McKinstry, a national construction and energy services firm, held a community ribbon-cutting late last year to celebrate completion of new solar arrays constructed across eight local government agencies throughout the region. Solar arrays were installed at 13 local government facilities in the towns of Craig, Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Oak Creek and Yampa. Eight of the projects are ground mounted, while the remaining five are rooftop systems.

The project includes a regional partnership with the city of Steamboat Springs, Routt County, Moffat County, the city of Craig, Moffat County School District and the towns of Yampa, Oak Creek and Hayden. The goal is to improve energy independence and promote resiliency across the region.
Individual projects range from $63,500 to nearly $900,000 and involve DC and AC electrical work, minor boring for ground-mount foundations, trenching for AC conduit and minor site grading.

BT Construction was honored in 2021 by AGC of America for having one of the nation’s best construction safety and wellness plans. The Henderson, Colo.-based firm was given the award during the association’s Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards, an annual recognition of construction safety programs. Forty-three other companies were also selected as winners for the quality of their safety programs.

BT Construction’s Jordan Hurd and Perry Silvey (center left and center right) accepted the first-place safety award from AGC and representatives of Willis Towers Watson.

“Having a successful construction project starts with having a safe workplace for your employees. It is crucial, now more than ever, for a firm to build its safety culture,” said Bob Lanham, AGC president and the president of Williams Brothers Construction Co. in Houston. “These award recipients are leading the industry by showcasing the safest worksites in the country.”
