To better serve a rapidly expanding community, the North Mason Regional Fire Authority built a new headquarters fire station on 3.5 acres of land adjacent to the former structure on Old Belfair Highway. In addition to the new station, the project included site improvements, utilities, landscaping and parking. To reduce risks related to design and construction and to save time and money, the owner opted for progressive design-build on this project. The team worked together to prepare early construction packages to advance the project while design was still underway. As the owner’s project manager, Hill International Inc. provided project oversight and reporting to help ensure contract compliance in the best interests of the project. They also reviewed all quality assurance/quality control requirements with the team, which reduced changes.
