Darla Macomber has been promoted to chief operating officer of the Associated General Contractors of California. The new position will oversee the organization’s development and implementation of all sales, recruitment, retention, government affairs services, engagement strategies, networking events and communications.

Chris Killian has been promoted to senior vice president of Turner Construction Co.’s Northwest region. William Ketcham is now serving as vice president, general manager of the Seattle office. Ryan Nordin is now serving as vice president, construction executive in the Southern California office. Kyle Warren is now serving as vice president, general manager of the Portland, Ore., office.

AECOM has hired Tyler Sheldon as vice president for the transit rail division on the West Coast based in Oakland, Calif.

Ahtna Netiye’ LLC, an Anchorage, Alaska-based regional native corporation with unit companies in engineering, construction, environmental services, facilities management and other areas, has elevated Roy Tansy Jr. to CEO, effective Feb. 19. Formerly COO, he also had been president of Ahtna Construction. Tansy succeeds Tom Maloney, who is retiring and also had been Alaska area manager for CH2M Hill. Ahtna Netiye’ ranks at No. 151 on ENR's Top 200 Environmental Firms list. 

Bob Weis, the former president of Walt Disney Imagineering, has joined Gensler as the global immersive experience design leader.

HNTB has named Mike Hess division operations officer for its West division based in Orange County, Calif. He will oversee business operations, contracting and delivery of infrastructure projects across the five-state West division. Matt Dixon has joined HNTB as senior project manager in Los Angeles, leading transit and rail projects and participating on leadership teams throughout the firm’s Western region. HNTB’s associate vice president Elisabeth Suh was named to the board of directors for the California Transportation Foundation. Her four-year term began on Jan. 1.

Skanska USA Building has named Lew Guerrette as executive vice president and general manager overseeing its building and construction operations in Seattle.

Harry K. Stewart has been named CEO of the Dutra Group. Bill T. Dutra, who led the company since its founding, will move into the role of executive chairman.

The Walsh Group has selected Rob VanGorder as senior vice president of the West transportation group, which includes the firm’s current transportation projects in Arizona, California and Washington.

John Willis has been named CEO of Parametrix and will start the transition into the role this year. Austin Fisher has been selected as firm vice president overseeing the Puget Sound region. Layne McWilliams has rejoined Parametrix as a principal consultant based in Seattle. Steve Katko has been named Parametrix’s Oregon/Idaho vice president, and Kristen McCoy has been selected to serve as Oregon/Idaho operations manager.

Francisco Arias has been promoted to director for design in Ware Malcomb’s Los Angeles office. Maria Rodgers has been promoted to the firm’s director for PR and communications.

Christian J. Agulles is taking the helm of Portland, Ore.-based PAE as president and CEO. President emeritus Paul Schwer will remain active at PAE.

Brown and Caldwell vice president Tracy Stigers has been promoted to design chief engineer, the first woman to hold that role for the firm. Stigers will lead all design from a technical and delivery expertise perspective across all of the firm’s design initiatives.

HMC Architects has promoted Adrienne Luce to vice president, diversity, inclusion and social impact as well as executive director of the Designing Futures Foundation based in Los Angeles. In addition, Dena Null and Terri Sudbrook have joined the firm’s health care practice.

Gary Lee Moore has joined Psomas’ Los Angeles office as senior vice president to assist the firm with strategic pursuits and partnerships for its engineering, construction management, environmental, survey and geospatial services. Moore previously served as Los Angeles’ city engineer from 2003 to 2022.

MATT Construction welcomes Christopher Waight as vice president of business development in Los Angeles.

Tyler Ranf has joined Thornton Tomasetti’s structural engineering division as vice president leading the aviation sector for the company’s West region and will focus on a broad range of new construction, expansion and modernization projects.

Preston Hoopes has joined McCarthy Building Cos.’ northern Pacific region as vice president of specialized solutions and interiors.

David Holthaus has been named vice president and area manager of Raymond-Southern California Inc. overseeing project management, estimating and field operations in the region.

Peter Lemon has been named president and CEO of Graniterock. He succeeds Tom Squeri, who has served as CEO since 2012 and will remain on the board of directors.

HITT Contracting has promoted Chris Krastes to vice president of site operations based in Seattle overseeing projects in the Pacific Northwest. Jeremy Anderson has been promoted to vice president of site operations. He will handle projects in California and the West Coast. Robbie Meleney has joined the firm as a director of business development in Seattle.

San Diego-based RICK Engineering Co. has named Alicia Wadsworth vice president of human resources and Eric Samuelson as vice president of finance.

Brian Hughson has been promoted to senior associate at RBB Architects Inc.

Kleinschmidt Associates has named Ben Cary as its hydraulics and hydrology section manager, based in Vancouver, Wash. 

Kathy Romaine has been promoted to strategy director for Kennedy Jenks private sector business. Mark Cullington has taken on the operations director role for the company’s Washington, Oregon and Hawaii operations. Vice president Doug Sawyers will serve as Kennedy Jenks' operations director for the facilities engineering, management consulting and remediation and compliance organizations. Principal Michael Humm has been named the firm’s operations manager for Oregon, and Stephan Meurer is now manager for the 40-person remediation and compliance operation.

LRS Architects has hired Leticia Lopez Cushnie and Matthew Salazar as building information modeling (BIM) managers in the firm’s Portland, Ore., office.

Lendlease promoted John Beccaria to principal-in-charge, overseeing construction operations for all Silicon Valley clients, hired Spencer Reiner as principal-in-charge for construction management experience in the Bay Area and promoted Rob Gardner to design operations manager based in San Francisco. Kris Kyle has been hired as design operations manager dedicated to design-build work in Silicon Valley as well as third-party clients.

Roy Hague, Amy Hart and Mitch Pride have been promoted to be principals in Seattle of architecture firm MG2.

Project Management Advisors Inc. has promoted three employees to new executive positions. Allison Owens is now Western regional president, Ken Richter is national life sciences sector leader and Tom Ramsey will succeed Owens as general manager of the San Francisco office.

Magnusson Klemencic Associates, the Seattle engineering firm, has named David E. Eckmann president. In addition to his new role, he is managing principal of its Chicago office and serves on MKA’s board of directors.

Schimenti Construction has named Vincent Spataro the firm’s senior director for the West Coast, based in Los Angeles.

Coffman Engineers Inc. has named Spokane principal and civil engineer Chad Heimbigner as chief operating officer. Josh Crowe also has joined the firm as a senior structural engineer and Sisi Cooper has been named senior process safety consultant.

Brad Denney joins Suffolk as West region chief operating officer in Northern California. Based in San Francisco, he had been a vice president at Webcor.

OBITUARY

Annamae S. “Ann” Moorefield, 89, former chairwoman and CEO of Moorefield Construction Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., died Jan. 11 in West Lake Village, Calif., the company confirmed. Moorefield assumed those leadership roles in 1982 after the sudden death of her husband and company founder Harold E. Moorefield. 

Co-founding the firm in 1957 as secretary-treasurer, she assumed full ownership of a contractor that now specializes in retail and commercial construction in 13 western, southwestern and central states and has 85 employees. It reported 2022 revenue of $163.5 million and ranks on ENR California's list of top contractors. 

The company stated that Ann Moorefield's three sons—Mike, Larry, and Hal—now are co-CEOs. She retired last October but remained on the company board. Moorefield had been named an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001.

“Our mother was an inspiration to everyone who met her. She took over a male dominated business and kept the company moving forward," said Larry Moorefield. "She exhibited strength, tenacity and a fighting spirit ... and left a legacy for her children and grandchildren."
