The Environmental Protection Agency has extended to July 31 an earlier July 6 deadline for states to submit a letter of interest for the second batch of funds made available through the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act. The WIFIA program provides low-interest, long-term federal loans for up to 49% of project funding. The program received $63 million from Congress in March, double the amount it received in 2017, the first year of the program. EPA says by leveraging private capital and other funding, WIFIA loans could support $11 billion in infrastructure investment.
